New article: Review SLR camera Canon EOS 77D: the missing link

The name of this camera suggests that it belongs to the older crop Canon series: “double-digit” models are always more related to the segment of semi-professional than Amateur, with all possible discounts on the conditionality of this division, of course. For many years, the Japanese company accustomed to this – and at first glance the camera seems no wonder that Canon is correct myself: the system screen on the top panel, two navigation drive mode selector, go to the other side of pentaprazole guide… the secret of the developers lies in the fact that this fundamental difference from the EOS 800D ends.

What is a good Supplement missing link for a long time “settled down” family or trying for a second time sell (baboutmore, of course, the price) a well known thing due to the flexible positioning? Try to understand – the more so since the 800D we had no business, so it will be “two reviews for the price of one”.

The first is to talk about the key differences between the 77D/800D from 80D – in detail they are presented in the table below, here the main points. Despite advanced management, 77D retained almost the same dimensions as the camera of the “three-digit” series. As 800D, she’s got a new DIGIC 7 and works in the natural sensitivity range of ISO 100-25600 – it is superior to 80D. But the speed of serial shooting (six frames per second compared to seven), the minimum shutter speed (1/4000 vs 1/8000), viewfinder coverage (95 % vs 100 %), battery life and moisture protection – inferior. But the key element is the APS-C sensor with 24.2 megapixels – three cameras one.

#Appearance and ergonomics

Canon EOS 77D produces a very strange impression, even causes some dissonance, for reasons not immediately understand. The thing is, as strange looks monochrome segment display on a device this size (it is, recall, the dimensions are identical to the 800D) and of materials. A simple matte plastic, just screaming about the lack of dust and moisture protection, in the mind of a seasoned photographer or an Amateur photographer does not mix well with two navigation CDs.

However, it’s the little things that will pay attention only an experienced user of Canon cameras. For the beginner is first of all the “classic SLR” — with a very large hump pentaprizmy, anatomic ledge under the right hand grip and rubber inserts in the right places. Camera grip, does not slip and doesn’t try to get out of hand — despite its relatively small size, 77D picked up one of the main “mirror” benefits with them.

The device weighs 540 grams, eight grams more than the 800D, and almost two hundred less than 80D. The price of protection. However, the lightest in its class, even among DSLRs the new product not to be its direct competitor, the Nikon D5600, and altogether weighs 465 grams. Despite the inevitable visitest the entire system (together with optics), producers of mirror devices continue to compete in this setting, although it would seem, those for whom is very important weight, has long been looking towards “buzzerblog”.

Looking at the relatively modest materials, it is not expected to meet in the lower panel the proud badge – Made in Japan. Nowadays it doesn’t mean that much (in Malaysia, Indonesia or China collect equipment is not worse), but still nice.

On the front panel, in addition to the lens mount and release button of the lens is also lamp the AF-assist illuminator and IR-sensor for remote control. This also removed the holes of the stereo microphone. On the ledge of the mount, closer to the left edge, is the upgrade button flashes – it is electronic, accidental rise, e.g. in a backpack, are excluded.

On the top panel, to the left is the mode selector button with lock (turn the selector you can hold it), the lever of inclusion and transition in video mode. Center – pentaprizmy ledge with built-in flash and a universal port of the type “hot Shoe”. The right – down button, navigation disc, three keys (switches between selection modes zone focus, ISO selection, backlight display segment) and segment display.

The bottom is the battery compartment and the tripod thread at a sufficient distance from it to change the battery when stationary the camera can, without removing it from the tripod.

On the left edge is the speaker and all the interfaces under one lid – 3.5 mm Jack for microphone and 2.5 mm Jack for remote control under another miniHDMI and miniUSB. Here is the contact area of NFC.

On the right side is the compartment for the SD memory card.

On the rear panel of the main display turning in vertical and horizontal planes, a viewfinder with a diopter correction wheel, the call buttons of the main menu and change the type displayed on the information display, push button start Live View. Here is the main control unit, which includes call button quick menu, playback and delete pictures, start the wireless connections, forced autofocus (AF-ON), two keys for zooming images, navigation ring press with five “rays”, and the lock lever of the ring.
